Innovation...
the key to the new era of red meat retailing
and food service.
"Being a butcher is not about meat any more.
It's about home meals". Those few words
sum up the innovative thinking that has
made Hervey Bay butcher Darren Everard into
an Australian trendsetter in his industry
and a successful consultant for other retail
businesses looking for that competitive
edge.
The openings are there for people who are
prepared to move with the times and recognise
that doors are constantly opening and shutting
as lifestyles, trends, fashion and external
factors change the shape of our world.
Constantly anticipating market trends and
offering individual service not found in
supermarkets are essential in making inroads
into traditional customers bases. The days
of traditional butcher shops being able
to stay in business with traditional display
cases full of steak, chops and sausages
are gone. People are looking for new products,
especially quick and easy to prepare meals
- a quick meal in less than 10 minutes without
sacrificing quality. But of coarse there
is much more to it than that.
With a proven track record and innovative
retail success, Darren has been at the forefront
of his trade for almost 20 years now, pushing
traditional boundaries with new products
and promotions by way of smart and efficient
retail marketing with a hands-on approach.
Darren has worked with Mr David Jones, Regional
Manager for Meat and Livestock Australia
(MLA) in the Middle East & Africa regions
in countries such as The United Arab Emirates,
The Kingdoms of Saudi Arabia, Bahrian, Oman
and Mauritius.
Darren has also worked with Mr. Tim Kelfs,
Regional Manager (MLA) in South East Asia.
This work varied from supermarket chains
with up to 45 stores to independent butcher
shops. Darren has been responsible for training
chefs from 4 star hotels and resorts to
foodservice chefs at colleges who were starting
out in the industry.
"A highlight of my work overseas was being
able to work with the renowned exhibitive
chef, Raman Khanna from the Abu Dhabi Hilton.
It was part of a promotion with the Abu
Dhabi Co-operative Society that featured
Air Freighted Chilled Australian Lamb".
